Biography

Hungarian-American violinist Julia Jakkel is a former public school string orchestra and general music teacher with seven years of full-time teaching experience across multiple Florida counties. She now works full-time as an independent music educator and performing artist. Julia is a Suzuki-trained, Orff-trained, Music Mind Games-trained, and TEFL certified educator who holds a Florida Teacher Certification in Music K–12 with academic endorsements in Reading, ESOL, and Gifted. She maintains a growing private studio of string and piano students, teaches music theory, music history, audition preparation, and offers small group music classes. Julia is well versed in teaching strings from children’s exploratory music to preparatory strings, chamber groups, and string orchestras, and has coached students of all levels from 4-year-olds to working professionals. Julia had the honor to be an invited judge at the Florida Federation of Music Clubs’ Junior Festival for three years prior to the pandemic, evaluating many young and talented string players. Julia was also the lead writer of the curriculum development team for the Greater Miami Youth Symphony in 2022. Julia received her BM and MM degrees from Lynn University’s Conservatory of Music in Violin Performance. During her college years Julia enjoyed volunteering for the South Florida Hungarian Kids Club as an instructor and music teacher and served as the Honorary Chairperson of the Rotaract Club of Lynn University. Julia served as a violin mentor at the Lynn University Preparatory School of Music, as well as at the Nat King Cole Generation Hope Summer Strings Program for underprivileged children for six years.

Julia is also an active performer throughout South Florida. Over the past decade, she has played fundraising concerts for the Miami Bach Society, the Suzuki Association of South Florida, and the Ronald McDonald House of Fort Lauderdale; worked as a strolling violinist on a cruise ship; was an invited guest artist to perform at the Crystal Serenity World Cruise; gave performances in France as part of the Zodiac Music Festival; and has performed with local orchestras such as the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, Palm Beach Symphony, Symphony of the Americas, and the Southwest Florida Symphony. Julia was honored to be the only entertainer at the opening ceremony of the new Vice-Consulate of Hungary in Miami in 2019; she has also appeared as a violinist in venues such as the Versace Mansion, Biltmore Hotel, Mar-a-Lago, Boca West Country Club, Boca Raton Resort and Club, and Coconut Creek Casino, to mention a few. Julia’s goal in life is to bring joy to all people through the gift of music.
